Designer Spotlight–Stephanie Etter

Stephanie Etter

“I strongly believe that everyone deserves a great interior design for their home. A great design should reflect who they are and be functional as it relates to their lifestyle. At the end of a design project I want my clients to say, “I never knew my home could look and feel this great!”

I have been an Interior Designer with Krispin’s for almost 7 years now.  I started at Krispin’s right after graduating from Sinclair with my Associates in Applied Interior Design.  I was so excited to take projects from the developmental stage to completion and see how happy my clients were with their new space.  I have always been partial to contemporary furnishings and consider myself very blessed to be able to work with wonderful people and beautiful furniture every day.  I am also a member of D.S.I.D. which is the Dayton Society of Interior Designers, who work together to help keep business local.

My favorite aspect of design is definitely color.  I find it sad that so many people today are afraid of color.

Color is the fastest way to change the way a space feels in no time at all.

Stephanie used color to bring energy and life to this open floor plan.

I have wanted to be an Interior Designer for as long as I can remember.  My poor father would help me rearrange my bedroom furniture every other weekend because I would want to try something different.  When I was in 8th grade I job shadowed an Interior Designer, Sharon Bledsoe, who strongly suggested I learn how to draw.  Even stick figures and I do not get along when it comes to drawing, so I looked into other career options.  But ultimately I still came back to design.  I still can not draw with a pencil, but now I do all the drawings for the store, but on a computer!  As Sharon is a member of D.S.I.D. she has now become one of my mentors!

In what free time I have, I tend to stay pretty busy.  While putting myself through design school, I followed in my father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and I became an EMT and joined a fire department.  I continue to work with the City of Vandalia: Division of Fire whenever I can.  If I am not at Krispin’s or the fire house, I am usually with my wonderful boyfriend.  In the past year and a half I have been lucky enough to meet an amazing man who I plan on keeping for a long time.  We are in the process of trying to sell his house now, so if anyone wants to move to the Greenville area, let me know!!

Starting this past July, I also took on an additional role at Krispin’s of being the Sales Designer Coach.  I am also the Auto Cad Technician for our design team and assist the other Interior Designers in any way that I can.

I look forward to what the future holds for not only me but Krispin’s as well.
